Renan began riding horses in the rural part of Southern Brazil where he developed a strong foundation for horsemanship and learned the Farrier and Equine Dentistry trades.

In 2002 he moved to the United States.  He worked for Marcelo Barros, a well known Hunter/Jumper trainer of WB Equestrian until soon after that, Renan began his own Farrier/Dentistry business.

In 2004 he began training with Carol Smith.  Carol, a Grand Prix dressage rider and instructor, spent many years training under Swedish Olympian and USDF Hall of Famer, Major Anders Lindgren .  Carol gave Renan the opportunity to learn dressage on her Grand Prix stallion "Forest Dancer".  By 2007, Renan was riding 4th Level tests and Grand Prix movements.

In February 2009 Renan met Laura and together they opened Sauer Stables.  Today he has several horses in training and continues to shoe full-time.  He looks forward to joining the show circuit in 2010.

He works with each horse individually to develop a specific training program that incorporates the horse's natural athleticism, conformation, and personality to achieve the highest training goals.  His focus is on small, positive, progressive steps that result in a strong foundation for both horse and rider.

Laura McCormick

Young Horse Trainer, Beginner Instructor, Hunter/Jumper Rider

Laura has been riding horses and ponies since the age of ten.  While living in Upstate NY she showed all over the east coast.  Her show career includes Devon, Washington, Lake Placid and more.  She qualified her medium pony "Ruby Slippers" for Pony Finals and won numerous awards before taking a break to go to college.

After returning to the business over a year ago, Laura met Renan and teamed up to combine dressage expertise and hunter/jumper skills.  Her training with Renan has helped her to incorporate a more technical approach to riding hunter/jumpers.

More specifically, her focus is on working with young horses to prepare them for the ring.  Training for, and showing in, breed classes is an excellent way to teach future champions how to be stars in the barn and in the show ring at an early age.  Young horses that receive this kind of training and exposure are ultimately are easier to start under saddle and have more rideablity.

She is currently working with a few prospects for the hunter ring.

Kathy Spainhour

Farm Manager

Kathy is responsible for the day to day activity on the farm.  She does EVERYTHING from handling young horses to fixing fence boards.  She works side by side with Laura and Renan to make sure the horses have a safe, healthy, and happy environment.  She has 25 years of experience with horse care and is also developing her dressage training by taking lessons on George.  When she leaves the farm she goes home to take care of her own horses - Santana, who is expecting a foal this summer, Diamond, Suzie, Little Bit, and Simon.

Thank you Kathy for all of your hard work and dedication.  Without you the farm would not be as wonderful as it is today.

We appreciate you more than you will ever know!
